Exhibition, Performance, and Workshop at AAC: “Conserve Bloomington”

Gallery show, workshop, and musical reception:

Artists for Climate Awareness organized the display of art, while on May 12, 2023, IU Jacobs School of Music students working on the Conserve Bloomington project introduced their musical composition of nature sounds recorded in and around Bloomington, IN. The music was developed in conjunction with an innovation grant from Jacobs School of Music. A reception for all events and activities was on Friday, May 12 at the Arts Alliance Center in College Mall. (See hours of operation.)

On Saturday, May 13, in conjunction with the event, internationally known Indiana artist Rena Brouwer led a watercolor workshop at the Arts Alliance Center.

Artistic expressions on display were both abstract or realistic and could consist of works that evoke experience such as: caring and hopes of preservation; depiction of changes over time; description of what has been loved and lost, “wake-up” call-to-action, and more. All members of Artists for Climate Awareness, Bloomington Watercolor Society, Upland Plein Air, Bloomington Portrait Group, and Arts Alliance were eligible for the gallery show.
