Make an Earth Day Sand Mandala

Help us create a vibrant sand mandala sidewalk mural at the Annual Earth Day celebration at Switchyard Park. Join ACA member, artist, and art educator Sara Steffey McQueen for a hands‑on, drop‑in activity for all ages. A local Girl Scout troop will be onsite lending their creativity and energy.

We’ll create a collaborative sand mandala mural using color, shape, and simple nature‑inspired symbols. This activity celebrates creativity, community, and care for the planet. Along the way, you’ll explore how sand art has been used across cultures for reflection, healing, and wellbeing—and how artistic practice can illuminate the connections between climate, health, and sustainability.

Together, we’ll shape a shared vision of a healthy, thriving Earth. This sand‑painting project is part of the larger City of Bloomington Earth Day celebration, featuring interactive activities and community booths.
