SUMMARY:Painting Deserts in Watercolor: Nancy Davis Metz with Carol Rhodes
DESCRIPTION:Deserts are often overlooked when it comes to changes in climate\, but in fact they are among the most vulnerable places on Earth. Majestic saguaro cacti\, Joshua trees\, and giant sequoia trees are challenged by unusually dry and hot conditions\, increased carbon dioxide\, and invasive plants. Several desert bird species are endangered. \nIn this day-long watercolor workshop\, you will learn how to paint a sunlit desert landscape using a very limited set of colors along with special wet-in-wet and layering techniques. Through the activities you will explore various watercolor properties and how to manipulate them. As you paint\, you will learn how humans are restoring and preserving these important areas of our world and how you can help. \nThe class will be taught both in-person and via Zoom. It is aimed at serving those who are comfortable with beginning watercolor techniques as well as more experienced painters who are interested in expanding their approaches to color management and brushwork. Participants will receive a list of the recommended paints\, along with purchasing options. All participants will provide their own painting supplies (brushes\, palette\, etc.). \nInstructors Nancy Metz and Carol Rhodes will deliver this workshop. \nSee all Ivy Tech CLL classes and register now\nDirect Link to register for “Painting Deserts” workshop \n\nArtists for Climate Awareness is pleased to offer this workshop as part of its series to help artists learn how to use art as a way to bring social awareness to conservation efforts in your communities.\nAs such\, a portion of the workshop fee will go toward a Contributors membership in Artists for Climate Awareness.\n Each participant will be automatically considered a member of Artists for Climate Awareness at the Contributor’s level (equivalent to $35) for one year\, unless declined. Contributors get workshop and event discounts\, news\, and enhanced insider participation. \n\n \n\nIn addition\, $10 of each enrollment will go the the Sierra Club Hoosier Chapter Foundation\, a 501(c)3 organization. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\nWith thanks and appreciation to:\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n
