SUMMARY:Gallery Exhibition: "Living In the Questions\," Traverse City\, MI
DESCRIPTION:What questions are you holding on to? \nOur world can be defined by questions – personal\, communal and global. Through the lens of nature\, “Living In the Questions” asks you to pay attention and examine the space that our queries hold.   \nWe are bearing witness to dramatic changes on our planet and to the impact of those changes on all living creatures. While viewing the exhibit\, pause\, observe and reflect – feel the sense of interconnectedness between ourselves and all that exists. Wander through the paintings\, sculptures\, and poetry as a meditation on climate change. See and feel the joys and sorrows. Let the experience expand your awareness. What questions come up for you? Can you feel the push and the pull\, the unease and the beauty of the world we encounter? \nThis exhibition\, by Michigan artist Jessica Kovan\, opens on June 25 at Botanic Garden at Historic Barns Park in Traverse City\, MI.  \nThe art in this exhibit has been created on and with all recycled materials including canvases\, cardboard\, old book pages\, and salvaged wood. \n \n \n \n \n \n Reception for “Living In the Questions”\nJuly 22\, 2024\, 5-7 pmBotanic Garden at Historic Barns Park1490 Red Dr\, Traverse City\, MI 49684Catered by Inn and Trail Gourmet \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n	\n	\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Proudly co-sponsored by \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jessica Kovan is a mixed media artist and educator\, aiming to create conversations to foster both collective and personal understanding. Her art is characterized as thoughtful\, storytelling and layered. Drawing inspiration from the world around her\, she explores the intersection of art\, nature\, the environment\, and human decision making. Drawn to working in mixed media and collage\, her paintbrush\, scissors and glue become tools for seeing and understanding. \nAs a conceptual artist\, Jessica’s work is known to be personal\, expressive and focused on making the spirit of the times visual. With a PhD in Adult Education\, and having worked in the environmental and educational fields for over 30 years\, Jessica is actively involved in both climate change work and in leading creativity workshops focused on taking care of oneself through art and nature. Her art invites people to be curious\, reflect\, spark conversations\, and draw connections. She is a Nautilus member of the International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA)\, a signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and a certified GOLDEN Artist Educator. \nJessica’s artwork has been featured in North Light Books\, The Best of Mixed Media\, and on-line in CreateMixedMedia. Her art journaling and climate change work has been recognized in magazines such as Strawberry Moon Magazine. Jessica’s paintings are in private and corporate collections nationally and internationally – including the NCAA Hall of Champions. \nTo learn about her artwork\, workshops\, online classes and thoughts about creativity\, visit www.jessicakovan.com.
